Every week, The GLAAD Wrap brings you LGBTQ-related entertainment news highlights, fresh stuff to watch out for, and fun diversions to help you kick off the weekend.

1) Coming-of-age comedy Booksmart premieres today in theaters nationwide. The film stars Kaitlyn Dever and out actress Beanie Feldstein as two high school over-achievers, who are on a quest to party on their last night of high school. Dever's character, Amy, is an out lesbian who experiences her own romantic misadventures. Booksmart paints a world with multiple queer characters, including those played by out actors Noah Galvin and Austin Crute. Click here for tickets!

2) The lineup has been announced for Frameline 43, the annual San Francisco-based LGBTQ+ Film Festival. This year will include 59 U.S. Premieres and 22 World Premieres including documentary Queering the Script, which includes GLAAD's Director of Entertainment Research & Analysis Megan Townsend; the second season of GLAAD Media Award episodic nominee This Close; BIT, starring Supergirl's Nicole Maines; and more. 3) A trailer has been released for the upcoming Downton Abbey movie, which follows from the Emmy Award-winning show, and is set in 1927, when the royal family is coming to visit. The trailer shows gay valet Thomas with a new love interest, which the movie will expand upon. Downton Abbey will be released in theaters on September 20.

4) Out actress Samira Wiley has been cast in the upcoming film Breaking News in Yuba County, which also stars Allison Janney, Awkwafina, Mila Kunis, and more. In more casting news, out actor Neil Patrick Harris has been cast in Anita, a biopic on conservative anti-LGBTQ spokesperson Anita Bryant. The film is written and directed by out filmmaker Chad Hodge. Out actress Amandla Stenberg has been cast in a reboot of the 1996 film Fear, which originally starred Reese Witherspoon and Mark Wahlberg.

5) NEON and Hulu have purchased distribution rights to the Cannes hit Portrait of a Lady on Fire. The French film, which won this year's Queer Palm jury award, follows a woman who is commissioned to paint a portrait of a bride, and then falls in love with her. Queer film This is Not Berlin, which premiered at Sundance this past winter, was also picked up for U.S. distribution by Samuel Goldwyn; the film follows Mexican teenager Carlos and the events in his life over the course of a year filled with partying and sexual awakening in the underground arts scene in Mexico City.

6) A new trailer has been released for Netflix's Tales of the City, a continuation of the stories of the residents of 28 Barbary Lane. The show stars several LGBTQ actors including Ellen Page, Murray Bartlett, Charlie Barnett, Jen Richards, Daniella Vega, and Caldwell Tidicue (aka Bob the Drag Queen). 7) A teaser has been released for the second season of GLAAD Media Award-winning drama Pose. The new season follows the queer and trans characters fans grew to love over the first season into the new ballroom world of the '90s. Pose returns for season two on June 11 on FX. Watch the trailer below. In other TV news, HBO has renewed Gentleman Jack for a second season; the show is produced in partnership with the BBC.

8) Hulu has announced and released the title sequence for their upcoming children's show The Bravest Knight, which features two queer parents played by out actors T.R. Knight and Wilson Cruz. The first five episodes will air on Hulu on June 21, and 13 episodes have been ordered so far. This is an expansion from the story and animated short by Daniel Errico, The Bravest Knight Who Ever Lived. GLAAD board member Justin Tranter wrote and performs the series' theme song. In other TV news, a title has been announced for the upcoming The L Word reboot, the series will officially be named The L Word: Generation Q and will premiere on Showtime this fall. Also announced was a season two release date for Starz’ Sweetbitter, which features multiple queer characters and will premiere July 14.

9) Netflix announced that Queer Eye’s fashion expert Tan France will be hosting a new show on the streaming giant, Next in Fashion. France and Alexa Chung will host the reality competition show where aspiring designers compete for $250,000 and a collection. In other Netflix news, the streaming service has announced the premiere date for the final season of Orange is the New Black, which will be released on Friday, July 26. A trailer has been released for the upcoming HBO series Los Espookys from out comedian Julio Torres and Fred Armisen. The series follows a group of horror enthusiasts who get paid to stage spooky events. The group includes Andres (Torres), who lies to his boyfriend about the work he is doing. The show will premiere on June 14.

10) Drag queen and musician Trixie Mattel has released a new single, "Yellow Cloud," along with an accompanying music video. The song ushers in an electro-pop era for the artist. Watch the video below!

11) Fathom events announced last week that Tony Award-winning musical Kinky Boots will be hitting the big screen next month. The musical from Harvey Fierstein and Cyndi Lauper tells the story of using drag to save a shoe factory. It will be in theaters on June 25 and 29 only; tickets are available here.

12) A new one-woman play, Algorithms, is currently fundraising to be produced at the Edinburgh film festival. Sadie Clark stars as Brooke, a “bisexual Bridget Jones,” who writes online algorithms for a dating site and faces her own romantic troubles as well.
