Big Bad Boo is launching the first ever Big Bad Boo BIPOC Writing Workshop! This FREE virtual workshop series seeks to cultivate diverse writing talent and provide participants with the keys to a successful career in children’s television. You’ll learn foundational principles and techniques you can only get from acclaimed industry vets and will forge relationships with TV writing legends.

Workshop Goals
By the end of the program, the participants should have an understanding of how to write for an animated TV show and a short writing sample they can use as the foundation of a TV Pitch.

Program Specifics
This intensive workshop will begin with an introduction to the Children’s Television industry by Big Bad Boo Co-Founder Shabnam Rezaei, and continue with 3 half day-long sessions from 9am-1pm PST, led by John May & Suzanne Bolch (Sesame Street, Ollie & Moon, 16 Hudson, Magic Schoolbus).

The program is designed to provide participants with a crash course on the craft of writing and pitching a children’s TV show. We cover the basics of creating stories for TV, writing memorable and relatable characters, basic story structure, concept ideation, writing beat sheets, and the fundamentals necessary for a network pitch.

Who Can Participate?
The Big Bad Boo BIPOC Writers’ Workshop is open to early to mid-level writers interested in a career in children’s television who identify as Black, Indigenous or People of Colour and/or part of the LGBTQ+ community.

What Do I Need To Participate?

• Computer/Laptop with camera and microphone
• Access to Final Draft (trial version accepted)
